Mason's Senior Session at Forest Park – A Play of Light, Shadow, and Perspective
Yesterday’s senior session with Mason at Forest Park in St. Louis was one of those shoots that left me feeling creatively energized and reminded of why I love what I do.
Forest Park is always a beautiful backdrop—it never disappoints. But what really caught my eye during Mason’s session was the way the late afternoon light danced through the pillars of one of the buildings. The shadows stretched across the stone and framed Mason in such a unique way that I found myself just watching for a moment before clicking the shutter. It was one of those magical lighting moments where everything aligns—the architecture, the light, and the subject.
What made it even more fun was realizing how just a slight shift in perspective completely changed the image. I’d take one shot, then move a few feet or lower my angle just a bit, and suddenly the light would hit differently, the background would shift, and the photo would have an entirely new feel. It's always amazing how small changes can create a big visual impact. Even though some of the shots looked similar at first glance, each one had its own story to tell.
Mason was a total natural in front of the camera. He brought his personality and laid-back energy to every frame, which made my job easy. I love capturing seniors in a way that feels authentic to them—and with Mason, it was all about keeping it classic, cool, and confident.
Can’t wait to share more from his gallery soon. This session was a beautiful reminder that sometimes, the magic is in the light—and in the little shifts we make to see things from a new angle.
